Scientists now believe teleportation is possible and quantum computing more feasible

Star Trak crew ready for teleporting

Bones, Captain Kirk and Spock await Scott to beam the to some exotic planet at the speed of light

“Damn it, Jim, I’m a doctor, not a Teleportation Scientist, tell Scotty to Beam you up”. Every since all the old Star Trek episodes gave man the idea of teleporting from one place to another at the speed of light, we have been searching for ways to achieve it. Scientists now believe teleportation is not only possible but also makes quantum computing more feasible.

Scientists from the Joint Quantum Institute, brings together specialists from the University of Maryland and the University of Michigan, under the leadership of Christopher Monroe had a successful experiment in teleportation.

Scientists from the Joint Quantum Institute, bringing together specialists from the University of Maryland and the University of Michigan, under the leadership of Christopher Monroe had a successful experiment in teleportation.

Because “at this stage of teleportation can move only information but does not matter, scientists have manipulated two charged particles (teleportation rights Monroe finds it impossible in principle).

Each of the particles was placed in a vacuum and held in place by the electric field. Then with the use of a ultra fast laser pulse at the same time, they were forced to emit photons, due to the interaction, at which time the particles entered a so-called quantum entanglement, and the atom B had acquired properties of the atom A, despite the fact that they were in different cells at a distance of meters from each other. This is from a scientific point of view is teleportation.

exciting prospects of quantum teleportation

Quantum entanglement, teleporting properties of particles from one location to another.

This phenomenon promises exciting prospects for the computer industry.

This has enormous potential due to the phenomenon of quantum superposition, which describes the ability of particles to be simultaneously in two states at the same time, which allows the quantum bit (qubit) to store two numeric characters simultaneously.

Thus, the performance of a quantum computer with 300 qubits would be equal to two to three-hundredth of degree, and this number, according to Monroe, “exceeds the number of particles in the universe.” Scientists have now proved teleportation is possible and quantum computing is just around the corner.

The ability to transport a physical object is still far away so don’t get too excited yet. However with the use of a 300 qubit Quantum Super computer it might be much closer than we think. ;)
