Helen Thomas castigation is hypocritical

The Threat and free speaker is gone, Helen Thomas exiled

The Threat and free speaker is gone, You can relax Obama

One of the most authoritative and well-known American journalist, dean of the press corps in the White House, Helen Thomas retired.

Hearst Publishing, where she recently worked as a reporter, has announced her immediate retirement.

It was the culmination of public attacks on the journalist, which was connected to the White House. They resembled baiting indications ITAR-TASS, and clearly demonstrated that in America, with our cult of the individuals constitutional rights, freedom of speech has its limits.

The reason for the unusual public censure of Thomas, who has covered the activities of U.S. presidents since John F. Kennedy, and which would have fulfilled 50 years in August, was her violation of the tacit but strict taboo on unflattering comments about Israel and Israelis.

Now it is a hot topic because of the recent armed Israeli commando’s intercepted humanitarian Fleet freedom being sent to Gaza.

Thomas, on May 27 allowed herself to say that Israelis should “clear the hell out of Palestine” and move to Germany, Poland or America. Video of the speech hit the Internet and caused a storm of indignation in the United States.

Statement from Helen Thomas: “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance, May that day come soon.”

On Monday, June 7, spokesman for the White House, Robert Gibbs called the phrase Thomas “offensive and disgusting.

Correspondents’ Association at the White House, through its elected leadership stated that this statement has no excuse “and is” particularly unfortunate it is indisputable in the light of past achievements of the legendary journalist.

With the rank and file members of the association, which include and ITAR-TASS, the statement was not discussed – however, as the following, farewell made after the announcement, Thomas resignation. It again referred to the merits and regret, but in reverse order.

Previously, the agency Nine Speakers, organizing its customer’s public speaking, announced that it would no longer represent the interests of Thomas. Her former co-writer, journalist Craig Crawford stated that in the future will not write her book. Former press secretary Ari Flaysher the White House has publicly called for her dismissal.

Even the Secondary School, Walt Whitman, in the near suburbs of Washington – Bethesda (Maryland) – in the last minute withdrew its invitation to her to speak at the graduation ceremony this year. School Principal Alan Goodwin sent a notice of the parents and students, stressing that the ceremony of the assembly should not “disengage”, and unite. Somehow the school affronts particularly struck.

Thomas tried to apologize, at her page on the Internet; she expressed “deep regret” about the ill-considered words. They, in her words did not reflect her deep conviction that “peace in the Middle East will come only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance.”

Excuses were not accepted. The client, the Anti-Defamation League, called for “a deeper and more genuine” remorse.

Many rushed to turn away from the legendary journalist. It is, incidentally, she has never concealed her liberal views and, in particular, sharply criticized in recent years, the U.S. invasion of Iraq.

But, most likely, her view of Israel is partly painted by her own origins. Parents of Thomas were immigrants from Lebanon Tripoli.

She herself in one of her books describes a family of Arabic, but her father, who became America’s George Thomas, the home’s name was George Antonius, and her mother – Mary. Christian names they gave to their children.

It’s a shame to lose grandma. Pity we won’t see her again in the first row of the White House press room.
No kidding. She used to say in clear words what was on her mind and generally hidden thoughts of those watching and Obama, who would later materialize as if by accident in the case of the point she was making.
That was not the case once during a press conference when she asked Obama the question: “Is it true that the so-called terrorists in Afghanistan …?”
Obama internally flushed … and not correcting it. A short time later in public, Janet Napolitano announced that the word “terrorists” is no longer in the lexicon of the Administration.
So in this case the White House pounced on her because she is too independent. Not agreeing with them, expressed them and ruined the whole bowl of raspberries. They think one way, but others speak aloud. And she held up. So much for freedom of speech in America, as correctly observed some idiot in the ITAR-TASS (thanks to Tenenbaum for the tip)

First Amendment: addresses the rights of freedom of religion (prohibiting Congress from establishing a religion and protecting the right to free exercise of religion), freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and freedom of petition.

Presidential Oath of office. The final clause creates the presidential oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution. (not rewrite to make it suit)

“When my voice is no longer my own, I’m already dead. How much more should we give away? We no longer pledge allegiance, commanders no longer place their hand over their heart during colors. Have we forgotten why the stripes are red or why marines wear a blood lines down their trousers.

At 89 Helen, it’s nice to see “friends” abandon you when a mistake is made, At least you now know who your true friends are. We will never abandon you.
